Sunday October
2nd to Saturday October 8th, 2005
The
planning for the 6 day camp is well under way. Scouts will be travelling to
Grizzly’s farm, which is located in the picturesque surrounds of Yenco State
forest.
Boree Track
Lagoona
Farm
is not easily found on maps so parents that are contemplating visiting will
require a map and directions.
To enable us to complete menu and shopping requirements this weekend could you please phone me on 9639-7078 or my mobile 0416292278 as soon as possible and let me know the following.
Day you are planning to
travel to camp?
What meals you will require
and how many will need to be fed?
Are you intending to camp at
the Farm overnight?
If you are planning to camp overnight you will require, tent, sleeping bag, airbed and mess kit plus warm clothes.
If
you are definitely planning a Day trip, we would also appreciate this
information so that we can get fresh bread supplies taken to camp mid week and
also organise fan mail to be taken up to kids.
Grizzly
will also let his neighbours know that you are travelling through so that they
can point you in the right direction.
If
you decide to make and unplanned trip please let me know and I will get in
touch with Grizzly to let him know you will becoming and time to expect you
incase you get lost.
Should
you need to get a message to Kahn or Grizzly please ring me as John Hardiman
will also be away on leave at that time.
Female
Coverage:
Unfortunately
due to commitment with our business I am unable
To
get away for camp. Vicki Welton is providing female coverage.
Parent’s
assistance is required with Transport to and from camp. We will also need
assistance with towing Scout trailers and possible one extra trailer to get
gear to camp. Grizzly and Kahn will be
travelling to camp with Scouts but can only tow one trailer as Grizzly will be
towing his personal trailer.
Transport
and trailer coverage will also be required for the return trip as the Welton
Family are staying on at the farm to enjoy the peace and solitude for a further
week.
Packing
for camp will take place on Saturday 25th September,2004 a time is
yet to be confirmed with Kahn. We will require Patrol leaders plus one other
scout to attend.
As
with all camps we will require ice to keep cold supplies in Fridge going. If
you have the room in your freezer could you please fill as many 2 litre Milk
bottles as you can fit in. We will require these to be brought to the hall on
Saturday 25th September when we are packing. If you could let me
know that you have Ice supplies we will be able to co-ordinate a time with you
to bring it to the hall.
We
will also endeavour to send Fresh Ice supplies up to camp Mid week if parents
are intending to visit.
All Scouts are asked to be on their best behaviour on the camp. We remind parents and Scouts that the property is owned by the Welton family. Adjoining properties that scouts may be travelling through on Hikes are also privately owned. We take this opportunity to remind Scouts of law
A scout will
be respectful
There is to be no chopping down of trees especially new saplings that are growing. Grizzly will authorise what wood can be used for Fire requirements.
There is to be no vandalism to trees or rocks such as carving initials into trees or marking trees in any shape or form.
There is to be no drawing of pictures or marking rock faces in any way with charcoal or chalk or using any other material that will deface the natural surface of the rock.
Animals both privately owned and also native are on the Welton Farm and adjoining neighbours property, also in State forest.
There is to be no chasing of any of these animals whatsoever.
Scouts travelling thorough adjoining farms are asked to be aware that “closure of gates is essential” if the gate they have gone through was shut when they got to it Then it must be closed. This is to ensure animals do not leave the farm or paddock that they have been put in.
Fire Ban
As From August 1st there is a total Fire Ban in place due to the excessively dry conditions. The lighting of fires without a permit is a criminal offence.
The Welton family will be discussing with their local bush fire Brigade their requirement to enable us to enjoy our usual “Camp Fire”
Girls/Boys Behaviour
At no time are girls permitted in Boys tent nor will Boys be permitted in Girls tents. Should Scouts wish to socialise there is plenty of areas to enjoy this at the camp. In the evenings undercover Dining areas are available up until curfew time. Also around campfire.
