Green Cord Hikes

  1. Select the APPLICATION link and fill it out. Winston Hills Scouts can request one from Kahn, already filled out.

  2. Send application to Brian Roberts (48 Burrandong Crescent, Baulkham Hills) with a listing of your hike experience.

  3. Apply for a HIKE LEADERS CERTIFICATE  from Frank Barr if you do not already have one. You will have to prove experience of more than 100km.

  4. Print off the SIGN OFF SHEET to have ready to get filled in for all of the other requirements for your Green Cord.

  5. Meet with Brian Roberts to be assigned a hike and go through your planning with him. This is where you will be set your challenge.

  6. Meet with your team and plan the hike (including parents)

  7. Get paperwork A1 and fill out and e-mail to Leader to check, then mail to the applicable ZACs and home leader.

  8. Do hike, remembering to log and photograph everything for your log

  9. On return, report your return to the home leader

  10. Create log including:

  • Team names and details

  • Maps

  • Packing lists

  • Table of times and stops etc

  • Detailed description, including sketches, photos

Finally, submit your log and a document showing your full life in Scouts, Cubs etc to the Regional Commissioner Scouts. Allow up to 4 weeks for this process. Don't forget to get Troop Council to view and approve the log
