 GROUP CAMP

FRIDAY 10TH  March 2006–SUNDAY 12th March, 2006

GLENROCK SCOUT CAMP

NEWCASTLE

Parents,

 

On Friday 10th  March,2004 the troop will be travelling to Newcastle for the Group camp. The Glenrock  scout camp offers facilities for, swimming and Hiking

Flora reserve.

 

The group camp for those that are new to the Scout section is a fantastic way to see what Scout camping is about, and allows new members to gain skills in cooking for a patrol and camping as a patrol group.

 

The Scout section and Ventures (Combined Unit) will be travelling by Train on Friday evening (SEE HERE) and Hiking along the beach to Glenrock camp, along with leaders/parent helpers. Cubs will be travelling by car. All groups will be returning on late Sunday afternoon with the Scouts and Venturers again travelling by train (SEE HERE).

 

If you have any questions on these details please contact your Patrol Leader first, and if you still require assistance you may contact Kahn, Grizzly or myself (Refer Below).

Should your child plan to attend please notify PL as soon as possible so that we can get an idea of numbers.

 

Money is to be handed to your PL. along with permission note no later than  Wednesday Thursday 23rd February.2004

 

TENTS 

The Scout Section will be camping in Patrol tents and PL’s are to organise tent requirements for their patrols .

 

FOOD 

Group shopping will be organised

 

FULL UNIFORM MUST BE WORN WHILST TRAVELLING TO CAMP AND RETURNING HOME.

 

FRIDAY NIGHT DINNER

A Macdonald’s stop is plan on the way to camp. Please ensure your child has approximately $8.00  for that purpose.

 

PERSONAL PACKING

If your child is new to Scout Section and not sure what to pack , Please request a packing list from your child's PL or (HERE). Keep in mind that weather is changeable and Raincoats should be included .

 

THE NO HAT & T SHIRT RULE WILL APPLY + SUNSCREEN

Please ensure hat can be warn in the water. 

Baseball caps will not be allowed. Suitable bucket hats and Scout hats are essential

Walkman’s , CD-ROMs are not allowed at camp.

THEME

As with all group camps a theme is allocated with each section , with interaction between sections for some fun games. This years theme is Vikings - SUITABLE PIRATE DRESS FOR SATURDAYS ACTIVITIES IS REQUIRED. Your child should discuss with PL what they wish to do and what is required for this event. We normally dress to the theme.

SWIMMING

Glenrock Lagoon has a lagoon that is normally suitable for swimming and boogie-board activities. (Advice will be given to PL’s if we can transport Boogie boards by car on Saturday)

 

BEACH NEAR THE CAMP IS  NOT PATROLLED AND THEREFORE NO SWIMMING IS ALLOWED IN THIS AREA.

MEDICATION

If your child requires medication on that weekend please ensure that PL is made aware of requirements prior to departure. If medication needs to be placed in the fridge please ensure that it is in a Snap Seal Bag clearly marked with name and dosage.
