Hi all,

Just thought I would pass this along. I only received it last night, so apologies for the late notice.

During April Scouts Australia is holding its first Action Week. Action week is a program that has been designed for all the Scouting sections and annually the program will focus on a specific skill that Scouts can use in everyday life. This year Scouts Australia has teamed up with St John Ambulance to provide training and assistance to all sections.

All Participants receive a Certificate and Badge at the cost of $1.00 each.

Below I have placed what the program focuses on for each section.

Joeys;

  • DIAL ZERO, ZERO ZERO (000) in an Emergency
  • ASK FOR HELP from an adult
  • SQUEEZE AND SHOUT to identify an unconscious person

Cubs:

  • Identifying environments and behaviors that are hazardous
  • Identifying a medical emergency
  • Calling an ambulance in a medical emergency
  • Use of basic first aid principles

Scouts: (Designed for Red and Blue Level Emergencies Badge)

  • Identifying environments and behaviors that are hazardous
  • Identifying a medical emergency
  • Calling an ambulance in a medical emergency
  • Use of first aid principles including and basic first aid

Venturers:
(Designed for the Venturer Skills Badge)

  • Applying First Aid in an Emergency situation (including CPR)
  • ADAPT (A Drug & Alcohol Program for Teenagers) and 'It's Your Call'
If you are interested in having a night run I am happy to assist, or if you would like to run it yourselves I am more than happy to pass along the information to you. Although Action Week only goes from the 26th-30th of April, I'm sure we can run it at a more suitable time for your section.

Please let know if you are interested. My email is benjamin-scott@bigpond.com

YIS,
Ben Scott
